Hmm, so they're going garage and mysterious guy hardcore at the same time? Interesting.

New LP already from Punch? Shit the last one was only last summer!

i should be seeing brendan's band right now but when he told me the address he neglected to say whether it was 10th street in berkeley, oakland, or san francisco. so when i was trying to figure out where the fuck a punk house was in the rather middle class/upper middle class inner sunset district, it dawned on me to send him a text and ask which side of the bay he was on.

thus, i'm seeing them on wednesday instead since i got home 3 minutes after their set started. lol.

Oh yeah, Failures, Red Dons and Raw Nerve were awesome. Vaccine was alright. RazorFade was nowhere near as good as their name.

beardless brendan, even!

i saw these two bands, JUNK CULTURE and COMMON LOON, the other night after i quit my job. JUNK CULTURE was sick; like avalanches/animal collective soundscapes put together with beats, vocals and ambient noises. both of the dudes heckled me for not clapping during another band's set (i was holding a beer) and then forced me to explain stoner metal to them. so we jammed SLEEP as loud as possible over the PA. it was cool.

I didn't realize Burma didn't play "That's When I Reach For My Revolver" until Sasha pointed it out. As for what they did play, they opened with a new instrumental, played a bonus track from the Signals... reissue (which didn't even have vocals until two years ago), the A-side of a pre-LP 7" and a completely new song. I love how they constantly do stuff like that. Can't wait to see them again tomorrow.

They also played the likes of "Secrets", "That's How I Escaped My Certain Fate", "Max Ernst" (!!!!) and "Academy Fight Song". Plus killer versions of newer stuff, too - that rendition of "The Setup" was particularly impressive.
