Don't mind us, just winning 10 in a row and 1 1/2 games back.
it feels good to have a baseball season back. _________________

Even with Utley and Polanco out, the Mets will find some way to fuck this up, and the Phillies will find some way to recover.
As far as trade deadline shit...I'm a fan of Fausto Carmona, especially if he doesn't cost nearly as much as Lee. Beltran + another pitcher could be good enough for the playoffs. Definitely something I didn't anticipate happening this year. Imagine if Beltran didn't get that surgery and Bay actually hit? _________________

Aside from Jose Reyes and Omar Infante, esp Infante, I think Charlie did an okay job with the NL. Good to see middle relievers having ridiculous seasons getting picked, even though they don't have saves. If I'm trying to win the game, I'd much rather throw out a guy like Rhodes than a guy like K-Rod.
As for the AL, a quick glance looked like mostly Yanks and Red Sox, like usual, but now with even more AL East supporting cast (Bautista and Buck?).
Also, can we please get rid of fan voting and one player per team non-sense? The fans, whether they realize it or not, want to see a competitive game between the best of the best, not a popularity contest. _________________

the fact that Joey Votto needs to be voted in is a crime against humanity.
The sox message board I post on teamed up with a reds one to do a vote Votto/Konerko thing. Still, the all star game blows so much. _________________

I'd rather him do it in a meaningless game than the second half of this important season. _________________

Why is Jason Bay so bad? He can't do anything right these days. _________________

Pretty confident the Phillies got this now. Brown will move Ibanez to the bench, and then Oswalt will help hold them over until they get everyone back.
Great trade btw. Happ is a scrub. He's pretty old (for a 'young' guy with only one full season) and injury prone, and I don't even think he's that good.
Of course, ya know, they could have just not traded Cliff Lee. _________________

Pretty much what I thought too. I have always wondered why people like Happ so much. I know the Phillies now have the best rotation in the NL, but I'll still go with the Braves until I have seen otherwise. _________________

Very interesting trade deadline this year. Almost everyone rumored to be leaving has left.
I hope you get Dunn, Justin. That trade for Jackson as of now looks pretty bad. But Dunn in that ballpark will be ridiculous, he could hit 50 easily. I have such a man crush on Adam Dunn. _________________

| Giants are killing it at the moment. Wish we would have got a hitter before the deadline but oh well. Lance Berkman was rumored but yankees win every time. Kinda wish we would have traded Jonathan Sanchez, he has mean stuff but he's so frustratingly inconsistent. |

fsagfascbfakl;jsfjkasdfhuasdfkl;asdfljkasdnm WHAT THE FUCK. GODDAMNIT WE NEEDED A DH INSTEAD OF A MARK KOTSAY/ANDRUW JONES BLACKHOLE OF BASEBALL BAD.
Jackson is expensive and bad. Seriously, the dude went from the AL to the NL and sucked more. I didn't think that was possible!
Sorry your Mets are basically toast, Jeff. At least the NL Wildcard is going to be fun to watch......... _________________

They've been toast for a while. It's bitter sweet. I like their prospects and I'm glad they kept them, but I just want it to be 2011 or 2012 already. I knew this season would play out this way all along, although the win streaks were unexpected. _________________

Yeah I'm pretty happy with the end result of the trade, giving up A prospects and not Werth and NOT having to pick up Oswalt's retarded option.
But Amaro Jr. was really just trying to cover for the Lee deal. I feel like the Phils came into the season saying their dicks were bigger than everyone else in the NL because they won back to back Pennants and then realized around June that Blanton is a fat fuck and their bullpen blows (Baez). But FUCK Amaro man. If any team has a chance to have Halladay and Lee...that's a dynasty right there and he blew it. Yes, I'm sure his hands were tied by the organization and Yes, we have Oswalt now, but they could have used the same prospect bait to find a closer because fuck Lidge so much.
I think the Phils can overtake atlanta if the bats stay hot but I don't think they can win the pennant this year. |

Basically this, but I think you're selling the Phillies a little short with the last point. _________________

Watching this bullpen over and over again won't let me committ to a Series run. It's brutal to watch. The Phils will have to outscore teams by at least 4 -5 runs going in to the 9th for me to feel confident they'll win. This won't happen in the playoffs.
Gettin ready for your trip to Le Town of Ghey this weekend Jeff? |

Fair point.
It's next weekend, but yeah. What places should I go to in Philly that limit my chances of being thrown up on? I really only want to see Kid Dynamite, so I'll have time to fart around the city. _________________

mmmm there's lots of dudes throwing up everywhere so you might be out of luck.
Id say check out South Street for sure, there's a good record store there. Also Old City is pretty fun and they're both close to Of course I'll recommend hunting down a cheesteak. just steer clear from Pats/Genos, it will be mobbed and Geno's are a bunch of fascists. But these places aren't too close to the Starlight Ballroom so give yourself time to walk if that's your plan.
Broad, Walnut, and Chestnut are all cool streets to hang. Lots of restaurants and shops and shutff. But everything there is gay. |

Jim's Steaks on South Street will be a good bet for sure. But you really can't go wrong anywhere.

I like to watch this game, This game is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each. This game completely blew me away, I don’t reckon I’ve seen them for over 6 months, and they were unbelievably compelling. _________________ thomson holidays 2010 all inclusive |
